This coat rack is made from a section of air-dried English oak, brought down by a storm on the National Trust's Stourhead Estate, Wiltshire in 2011. The wood has a beautiful characteristic grain, enhanced with Rustic Pine Briwax beeswax polish. The rich gloss finish dulls down over time but is quickly revived by buffing and/or beeswax polish. The traditional edge of the plinth was produced with a cove cutter using a hand-held router. The simple graduated-hole design adds character and contrasts nicely with the hooks' square back-plates.
The small, chunky, cast iron hooks are a traditional design secured with four fixing screws each.
