This is another section of English oak, salvaged from the National Trust's Stourhead woodyard, final destination - a bonfire! Once part of a bench overlooking the lake, the deeply weathered grain looks remarkably like bark. Probably around 50 years in the making, all the loose material has been raked out, wire-brushed and sanded to perfection. Finally finished with Fiddes extremely hard-wearing Oak Lightening Hard Wax Oil, this fixes the surface and leaves a luxurious, water-repelling finish that is perfect for wet garments. Virtually unique to Hooked on Hooks are the quatrefoil cut-outs that create a distinctive Gothic flavour.
A perfect compliment to the English oak is a Georgian-era design, acorn-tip hat & coat hook made in cast iron. The lovely pewter finish was produced with Clear Briwax beeswax polish, which protects the metal and heightens the look of the raw iron.
As with all Hooked on Hooks' coat racks, please email me - Steve Gamblin at firstname.lastname@example.org - for details of smaller or larger versions, or any other requirements.
