HANDMADE WITH CARE
Someone once said working with wood is five percent knowledge, five percent skill, and ninety percent sandpapering. And while that remark is more than a little flippant, it does illustrate the point that making things by hand takes a tremendous amount of time. Indeed, even a 'simple' coat rack can take a number of days to complete. Hooked on Hooks coat racks often start out as seemingly hopeless, fit-for-nothing-but-the-bonfire sections of wood, but with care and time, a beautiful piece of furniture results. For me, there is a huge amount of satisfaction in this - taking, for instance, a 300-year-old piece of wood removed from a church during restoration and turning it into something that could well last another 300 years or more. What could be more satisfying than that - except owning such a piece one's self.
